AUGUSTA — Top-seeded Richmond forced 35 turnovers as it cruised to a 51-22 win over No. 9 Buckfield in the opening round of the Western Maine Class D girls basketball tournament Tuesday at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Bobcats took an 18-0 lead in the first quarter as five different players scored. Alyssa Pearson scored 11 points to lead a balanced Richmond attack. Jamie Plummer added nine points and 10 rebounds while Danica Hurley scored nine points and had four assists. Danielle Patrie led Buckfield with 11 points.

Richmond (17-1) advances to play No. 4 Seacoast Christian (16-3) in Thursday’s semifinals.
