I couldn’t agree more with the “Ride for Rover” reader’s opinion (letter, Buddy Doyle) in the Feb. 27 paper.
I am not only a motorcycle rider myself, but also a mother to three of God’s most loving creations and man’s best friends. I read this letter and it touched my heart.
I was instantly excited about a possible motorcycle ride to help a faithful friend for life. I think blessings of the bikes is a beautiful thing, however, many little ones are left starving or abandoned in today’s economy. Blessings of the bikes a great idea – don’t get me wrong – but Ride for Rover, count me in.
I think this is one of the best reader’s opinions in a long time. Many people need to look at these little creatures the way I do. They are children, too. No one would leave a child without a gift on Christmas Day; no one should leave Fido with an empty belly.
People need to do more for animals, since they can’t do for themselves. I have a tattoo that reads, “We are their voice.” I recently lost one of my babies and, trust me, my Dukie left paw prints on my heart. I would love to ride in honor of him.
