FREEDOM — Democrat Brian Jones, 54, has announced his candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives District 45 seat representing Burnham, Freedom, Knox, Montville, Palermo, Thorndike, Troy and Unity.

“I’m disturbed by the divisiveness and partisan politics in Augusta and would like to help restore a more collegial and collaborative lawmaking process,” Jones said in the announcement.

He is a Freedom selectman, and a former Budget Committee, Planning Board and Unity-based Regional School Unit 3 board member, according to the announcement.

He also cited his service as a volunteer firefighter in Freedom since the 1980s.

He is an adjunct instructor of mathematics and statistics at Unity College and the New England School of Communications.

Jones is running as a publicly funded candidate.
