CONCORD, N.H. — The Republican-dominated House has voted to bar New Hampshire officials from planning, creating or participating in a state health care exchange.
Bill sponsor Rep. Andrew Manuse said even a state health care exchange would be federally controlled, and the bill would help force Congress to repeal the federal health care law.
It isn’t the first time Republicans have put up roadblocks to implementing the Affordable Care Act.
Last year, lawmakers passed laws that said no New Hampshire resident can be required to obtain or be fined for failing to be covered by health insurance and established an oversight committee whose approval the insurance commissioner must obtain before implementing the federal law.
The bill passed by a vote of 219-94 does not stop the federal government from creating a health exchange.
