I want to express my appreciation to the people of Poland Spring for donating bottled water to the fire departments of Somerset County.
Currently, the Skowhegan Fire Department is hosting a basic fire school teaching new fire recruits the fundamentals of fire fighting.
Twenty-nine students representing 12 fire departments in Somerset County are learning the skills that are needed to be safe firefighters in their communities. The training involves long hours stretching hose lines, lifting ladders, hoisting tools, and extinguishing real fires.
Poland Springs’ donation helps us keep firefighters hydrated during this often-rigorous training. This donation helps us train local firefighters and that helps all of our communities.
