Kohl’s Cares

scholarship program

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — The Kohl’s Department Stores Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program will award more than $420,000 in scholarships and prizes, ranging from $50 Kohl’s gift cards to $10,000 scholarships, to more than 2,200 young volunteers who have made a positive impact in their communities.

Nominations for children ages 6-18 will be accepted through Thursday, March 15 at kohlskids.com.

Two nominees from each of the more than 1,100 Kohl’s stores nationwide will win a $50 Kohl’s gift card, and more than 200 individuals will win scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education. Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education and the organization will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.

Child Identification

WATERVILLE — The Thomas College Criminal Justice Club and free masons will conduct a free Child Identification Program event for the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium at Thomas College.

There will be free information gathering set up for Maine families wishing to have a packet of information for their child. No information will be kept by the masons or Thomas College.

There will also be activities available for children at the event. Local law enforcement members will be present to provide a comfortable interaction setting for the children.

Al Corey Combo Band plays March 31

WATERVILLE — The Al Corey Combo Band will perform Saturday, March 31 at Spectrum Generations Muskie Center for a night of dinner and dancing. Doors open at 6 p.m.

School Open House

FAIRFIELD — The Kennebec Montessori School will hold its annual Open House and Registration Day from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 17. Visitors of all ages are welcome tour the classrooms, meet the teachers and learn about the Montessori approach to early childhood education.

WATERVILLE — Inland Hospital will host its 15th annual World of Women’s Wellness health event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 31 at Thomas College.

Women of all ages are welcome to attend. The hospital and local organizations have collaborated to offer free health screenings, pampering samples, wellness information and resources, cooking and exercise demonstrations and snacks.

KVCC Open House

set for March 29

FAIRFIELD — Kennebec Valley Community College will hold an Open House Thursday, March 29, featuring campus tours, financial aid guidance, program information and more.

The free event will take place 4-6 p.m. in the King Hall Campus Center. The event was originally set for March 1, but was rescheduled due to a winter storm.

“This event offers a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in KVCC to come and see what the College has to offer, ask questions, and meet many of the faculty and staff,” Dean of Students Karen Normandin said in a press release.

Workshops on financial aid and career opportunities will be available. Classrooms and labs on the campus will be open for viewing. The application fee will be waived for all those attending the open house.
