FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue Regional School District Music Department will perform its In Our Schools concert series featuring the choruses, bands and orchestras in area schools.

The district-wide concerts will be held in the Mt. Blue Middle School gymnasium and grade levels. All concerts will begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

Participating schools include Academy Hill, Cape Cod Hill and Cascade Brook elementary schools, Mt. Blue middle and Mt. Blue high schools.

Starting the concert series will be the district-wide chorus festivals.

On Wednesday the grade five choruses and Mt. Blue High School Chorus will perform a joint concert under the direction of Lindsay Burke, Mark Phillips and Carol Shumway. Accompanist will be Patricia Hayden.

Also performing will be the Syncopations, Mt. Blue Voices and the Mt. Blue Middle School Show Choir.

On Thursday the grade six choruses and Mt. Blue Middle School chorus will perform under the direction of Phillips and Burke.

Also included are repeat performances by the Syncopations and Mt. Blue Voices.

The district Band-a-Rama will be held Wednesday, March 21. All bands grades five through 12 will perform under the direction of Karen Beacham and Darryl Pike. The Mt. Blue Middle and Mt. Blue High School jazz bands will also perform.

The first of two Orchestra Celebration concerts featuring the grade six and Mt. Blue High School orchestras is set for Thursday, March 22, under the direction of Nancy Beacham and Steven Muise. Also performing will be the Middle School Fiddlers and the Franklin County Fiddlers.

The second Orchestra Celebration, featuring fourth- and fifth-grade and Mt. Blue Middle School orchestras, will perform Monday, March 26, under the direction of Nancy Beacham and Muise.

In case of inclement weather, Thursday, March 29, will be the makeup date for any postponed concerts.

The Mt. Blue Music Boosters will serve Gifford’s ice cream after the concerts for $1 a bowl. Scholarship forms will be available for students in grades five through 11 to attend summer music camps or for private lessons during the summer.
