FARMINGTON — The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary recently presented the FMH volunteer department with a hospitality cart to be used by volunteers to deliver donated items to patients and family members in the oncology department.

“This cart will be stocked with items donated by community members such as handmade hats and blankets, puzzle books, playing cards, fresh flowers, note cards, refreshments and oncology-approved personal care items,” said Charlie Woodcock, FMH director of volunteer services, according to a press release. “We specifically chose items that make patients more comfortable, help pass the time during treatment, or brighten their day.”

The organization plans activities and events that raise thousands of dollars annually to support Franklin Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s gift shop is the auxiliary’s major fundraiser in its mission to provide financial support for the hospital for special projects and equipment. They also raise money by way of membership dues, memorial stones in the healing garden, raffles, uniform and shoe sales, special events, the Remembrance Tree and more.
