I would like to praise the teachers and coaches in the Augusta school system. The scholars and athletes the coaches turn out are outstanding.

Our fifth granddaughter just graduated from college. Our five grandchildren have attended five different colleges in three different states; two more grandchildren are yet to attend.

It is our job as parents to praise and encourage our children. Teachers and coaches work hard to build very important traits in our children as well, including attitude and integrity.

Expectations from parents and grandparents also mean a lot. When little Johnny comes home complaining how wrong the coach or teacher was, parents should check it out. Parents should not support bad behavior early on, because, if they do, I guarantee it will escalate over time. This is a time in a child’s life when teachers and coaches spend more teaching time with them than their parents do. Let’s give coaches and teachers the support they need.
