ST. ALBANS — Master Gardener Alumni Mark Sheriff and family, in collaboration with UMaine Cooperative Extension, will host an apple-tree pruning and grafting field day. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14, at Avalon Acres, 234 Dexter Road.

Homeowners who grow apple trees or plan to plant apple trees this spring are encouraged to attend. The day will begin with information about general planting and management practices for apple trees. There will also be pruning and grafting demonstrations.

Participants should wear appropriate footwear, as they will walk on uneven terrain. Registration is not required but is appreciated. There is no charge for this program.
