AUGUSTA — The Maine Principals’ Association has named Kim Brandt, principal of Greely Middle School in Cumberland, as Maine’s 2012 Middle Level Principal of the Year.

Brandt is a “consummate professional” who provides focused leadership that results in a safe learning environment where students can thrive, school officials said today in a news release.

Brandt’s commitment to ethical practices, life-long learning and high standards for all has made Greely Middle School an exciting place to learn and work, said Richard Durost, executive director of the principals’ association.

“Kim Brandt brings high energy and passion to her role as principal as she inspires adults and students to strive for a successful learning experience for all,” Durost said. “She embodies the skills, belief, and determination that a 21st century school leader must model for the school community.”

Brandt will be honored at the MPA’s spring conference on April 26 and at the National Association of Secondary School Principals in Washington, D.C., in September.
