WINTHROP — It appears that three candidates will be on the ballot for the special Town Council election March 29 to fill the unexpired term of James Lattin, who resigned.

Larry Fitzgerald, Judi Stebbins and Gilbert Turcotte all filed nominating petitions and have enough verified signatures, according to a clerk in the Town Office. They were the only people to take out nominating petitions, and the deadline for filing and verification was 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The replacement will serve until next January and would have to run again in November to remain on the council.

Fitzgerald served several years ago on a committee that studied the town’s public safety facilities and options for replacement. Stebbins served previously on council. Turcotte has worked for the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office and more recently for the Sabattus Police Department.
