AUGUSTA — Police are looking for a person who reportedly hit a Dixfield woman on the head and ran off with her lunch box.

Lori James, 48, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta to be evaluated after suffering what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries, said Augusta Police Sgt. Christopher Shaw. The woman briefly lost consciousness.

A hospital spokeswoman said James was treated and released around noon.

No one has been charged in connection with the crime.

The incident occurred around 8:50 a.m., as James walked between two buildings near 386 Water St.

An employee with a mental health agency, James was going to meet a client, Shaw said.

The unidentified robber approached the woman from behind and hit her on the head with an unspecified object, Shaw said. A report on the incident said the robber grabbed the woman’s lunch box and ran off, Shaw said.
