AUGUSTA — A 27-year-old Readfield man indicted on burglary and theft charges committed the offenses while the homeowners were at church, according to the prosecutor.

Jarrod Z. Bilodeau was indicted Thursday by a grand jury in Kennebec County Superior Court. He is accused of six counts each of burglary and theft and one count of criminal mischief.

“All of the victims were attending church services or meetings at the time the burglaries occurred,” said Alan Kelley, acting district attorney. “It is our understanding that he or his family were familiar with the church.”

According to the indictment, the burglaries occurred on Nov. 10 in Augusta and Vassalboro; on Nov. 17 in Wayne and Farmingdale; and on Nov. 18 and Dec. 12 in Winthrop. The thefts, all on the same dates, involved jewelry and electronics. The criminal mischief allegedly involved destruction of utility wires Nov. 18 in Winthrop.

Bilodeau, who was arrested in December, is free on bail. An indictment is not a determination of guilt, but it is an indication that there is enough evidence to proceed with formal charges and a trial in superior court.

Several other people were indicted by the same grand jury:

* Samantha L. Arnold, 25, of Winslow, two counts of aggravated trafficking in morphine and one count each of unlawful possession of hydromorphone and violation of condition of release, between March 10 and March 29 in Oakland and Winslow.

* David W. Berube Jr., 34, of Gardiner, and Ronald Eugene Wilson III, 35, of Hallowell, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking and one count each of burglary, criminal mischief and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, between Jan. 10 and Jan. 14 in Fayette and Waterville.

* Darren F. Carlton Sr., 43, of South China, three counts of failure to pay Maine state income tax and three counts of failure to make and file Maine income tax returns for tax years 2008-2010.

* Darryl L. Copeland, 29, of Hartford, Conn., two counts of unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, both involving cocaine, Dec. 14 in Waterville.

* Nathaniel J. Dupuis, 39, of Gray, theft by misapplication of more than $10,000 in sales tax Feb. 16, 2006, through June 16, 2008; theft by misapplication of more than $1,000 in withholding tax Nov. 1, 2006; and three counts of evasion of sales tax , all in 2006; and two counts of failure to collect, account for or pay over sales tax Feb. 15, 2006, through June 15, 2008, all in Kennebec County, and all related to the operation of CNF Enterprises Inc., and/or DNL Distributing Inc.

* Ernest L. Gagnon Jr., 29, of Mount Vernon, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking, and one count each of criminal mischief, unauthorized use of property and theft of services, between Feb. 1 and Feb. 8 in Mount Vernon, Oakland and Waterville.

* Chad E. Gilley, 38, of Waterville, theft by unauthorized taking and theft of services between Feb. 10 and Feb. 15 in Waterville.

* Michael E. Grant, 28, of Oakland, unlawful trafficking in cocaine May 1 in Clinton.

* Ricky L. Haley, 49, of Farmingdale, burglary, theft and criminal mischief, all Nov. 12 in Readfield.

* Donna Johnson, 52, and Terry V. Johnson 53, both of Litchfield, aggravated trafficking in marijuana, criminal forfeiture of $8,700 and criminal forfeiture of firearms, all Oct. 20 in Litchfield.

* Benjamin F. Lancaster, 31, of Benton, domestic-violence terrorizing Jan. 29 in Benton.

* Ricky Allen Lane, 25, of Augusta, burglary and theft by unauthorized taking Sept. 2 in Winthrop.

* Robert E. MacLeod Jr., 56, of Augusta, aggravated criminal mischief, theft by unauthorized taking and violation of condition of release, all July 19 in Waterville.

* Mathieu Paul Poulin, 36, of Augusta, forgery and theft by deception June 10, 2009, in Augusta.

* Tammy M. Rastelli, 38, of Chelsea, criminal operating under the influence, operating after revocation, criminal operating after habitual offender revocation, all Jan. 28, in Augusta.

* Scott D. Smith, 27, of Monmouth, theft by unauthorized taking between Jan. 1 and Feb. 29 in Monmouth.
