WATERVILLE — Waterville Public Library recently announced a new program for homeschooling families interested in reading and studying popular picture book authors.

Homeschoolers’ Read-Ins will meet twice a month from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays. The program is designed for families with children ages 5-10, though homeschoolers of all ages are welcome to attend. Library staff members will read several stories by a selected author and lead a related hands-on activity.

For those who are ready to begin library research, there will be an optional library skills task. Participants are invited to contribute their own component to future meetings by reading aloud or providing background information on the author of the day.

The schedule is as follows:

* April 2, Jan Brett

* April 9, Barbara Cooney

* May 7, Robert McCloskey

* May 14, Stan and Jan Berenstain

The meeting room will be available the entire morning for the group to socialize and work on projects. Families are welcome to bring lunches. Space in the program is limited and registration is required. Families can register for any or all sessions by calling Kathleen Kenny at 680-2605 or email kkenny@watervillelibrary.org.
