NEWTON, Mass. — Four different players scored at least three goals as the Lasell women’s lacrosse team beat the University of Maine at Farmington 16-6 on Sunday.

Britney Wuorio had five goals for Lasell, which won its sixth straight to improve to 6-1. Caitlyn Brecher, Bridget Ryan, and Ashley Slattery each had three goals. Slattery added three assists, and Rebecca Stanton pitched in with two goals and two assists. Alexa Katsigianis had 10 saves.

UMF led 2-0 early before the Lasers ripped off five straight goals. Emma Morrison scored three goals for the Beavers (2-2). Molly Carbin, Messalonskee grad Maddi Kadnar, and Maranacook grad Alyssa Neptune each had one.

Baseball

Fisher 3-6, UM-Farmington 1-2: The Beavers opened their season with a pair of losses in Lynn, Mass.

In the first game, UMF’s Brandon Gallagher pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits, while walking two, striking out two and hitting a batter.

In the second game, Colin Mello went 3 for 3 for UMF with two singles and a double, while Dale Winchenbach had a single and a double.

Softball

Wisconsin-Whitewater 9, Thomas 0, 5 innings: Amy Christopher allowed three hits and struck out eight in four innings as the Warhawks blanked the Terriers in Clermont, Fla.

Deven DuCharme hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to end the game by the mercy rule. Wisconsin-Whitewater improved to 5-0 with the win.

Sara Pavento, Messalonskee graduate Alei Collier, and Nokomis graduate Samantha Moore each singled for Thomas (2-9).

Also Sunday: Messalonskee graduate Dylan Foster had two hits as Husson baseball defeated New England College, 2-0. Husson also won the second game, 11-0. … Gardiner grad Nate Prince scored two goals as the University of Southern Maine defeated Husson, 11-6, in men’s lacrosse. … Hall-Dale grad Ryan Leach pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief in Franklin Pierce’s 3-2, 13-inning baseball loss to American International.
