SKOWHEGAN — Two members of the Skowhegan Area High School drama club were named to the all-festival cast in the Maine Drama Festival Class A finals in Falmouth over the weekend.

The cast of the school’s production of “Bow Down” also received a special commendation for outstanding sound performance.

Falmouth High School’s performance of “This Is Where We Came In,” took first in the class for schools with 550 students or more. Cape Elizabeth High School was runnerup.

Skowhegan actress Mikayla Bolduc, who played the Fair Sister in “Bow Down,” and Mindy Allen, who played the Dark Sister, were named to the all-festival cast.

Skowhegan finished last out of eight schools, with 232 combined points from the three festival judges, behind Falmouth’s 276 points and Cape Elizabeth’s 269.

“Skowhegan’s hard work and commitment to this piece showcased the students’ talents as an ensemble dedicated to presenting quality theater,” Skowhegan drama teacher Maura Smith said Tuesday. “One judge commented about our production, that as long as people continue to present shows such as ours — shows that challenge performers and audiences alike to think and that also celebrate the culture of storytelling — then theater will continue to thrive.”
