NEW LONDON, N.H. — The Thomas College baseball team opened Game 2 of a doubleheader at Colby-Sawyer with a three-run first inning, helping the Terriers earn the North Atlantic Conference sweep with a 10-2 win.

Thomas won the first game, 6-2.

Skowhegan’s Cody Vigue hit an RBI double in the first inning of Game 2 for Thomas (8-9, 3-1).

Waterville’s Tim Locke drove in a pair of runs with a single. Messalonskee’s Eric Sucy pitched a complete-game one hitter for the win, striking out three. Vigue and Locke each had three hits. Vigue scored three runs, while Locke drove in three.

In Game 1, Ben Goodall had three hits for Thomas and scored two runs.

Colby-Sawyer is 7-11, 1-5 in NAC play.

Maine 9, Norfolk State 1: Led by Tyler Patzalek’s 3 for 4 effort at the plate, the Black Bears completed the weekend sweep in Norfolk, Va.,

Patzalek scored two runs and drove in two more for Maine (11-14). Troy Black had a pair of hits and drove in four runs for the Black Bears.

D.J. Voisine went seven innings for the win, allowing one run on four hits. Justin Bhatti took the loss for Norfolk.

Softball

Albany 8, Maine 0: The Great Danes scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back in an America East win in Albany, N.Y.

Kylie Apostolina had a three-run double to lead the inning for Albany (18-7, 5-1). Brittany MacFawn earned the win, pitching all five innings, scattering three hits and striking out 10.

EmJ Fogel, Jennifer Eberhardt and Dagmar Ralphs each had a hit for Maine (6-22, 0-3). Beth Spoehr took the loss.

Colby 4-4, Maine Maritime 3-2: Brianne Wheeler went a combined 4 for 7 with a double, home run and four RBIs to lead the Mules to the non-conference sweep in Castine.

n Game 1, Colby (4-10) scored three runs in the first inning when after Lindsay Peterson had a one-out double and Katie Graichen walked Wheeler cracked a three-run home run.

After the Mariners (7-5) scored three runs to tie it, the Mules won in the top of the sixth when Carolyn Bennett reached on an error that allowed Erin Caputo to score.

In the second game, Caputo earned the win, scattering five hits and striking out six. Wheeler grounded out to second allowing Meaghan Lewia to score and Peterson doubled in Graichen for the second run in the first inning.

Thomas 15, Daniel Webster 6: Jillian Lambert and Ceara DiBiase each scored three goals to lead the Terriers to the non-conference win in Waterville.

Gardiner graduate Jenn Day, Brianna Yates and Brittany Premo scored two goals apiece for Thomas (3-2) while Terissa Ridge, Kim Migliara and Toral Nelson had one each. Teshia Cates made 10 saves.

Natalie Bates had a hat trick for Daniel Webster (3-3). Teresa Moscati stopped nine shots.

Also on Sunday: Gardiner’s Forrest Chadwick had a triple and two singles for USM in a 6-3 win over Rhode Island College. Nick Grady, of Whitefield, had an RBI triple for USM. Rhode Island College won Game 2 of the doubleheaders, 10-8.
