NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Maine Army National Guard Spc. Christopher E. Weymouth of Chelsea, Maine, recently attended the Army National Guard Honor Guard Course at the National Guard Professional Education Center in North Little Rock.

Weymouth is the first Maine soldier to receive the title of honor graduate at this course.

A member of Company B, 3/172nd Infantry (Mountain) in Brewer, Maine, Weymouth will be awarded the Maine Academic Award for this achievement.

Cyr graduates from combat training

LAWTON, Okla. — Army Pvt. Nicholas B. Cyr recently graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton.

Cyr is the son of Angela and Joey Cyr of Monmouth, Maine. He is a 2010 graduate of Monmouth Academy.

York graduates from military training

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. — Army National Guard Pvt. Bryton L. York recently graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, which included basic military training and advanced individual training.

York is the son of Janice and Michael O. Cook of South China, Maine.

Hanson graduates from basic training

SAN ANTONIO — Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Tyler A. Hanson recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Hanson earned distinction as an honor graduate.

He is the son of Darryl Hanson of Richmond, Maine, and Karyn Crowley of, Gardiner, Maine. He is a 2008 graduate of Richmond High School.

Howe graduates from basic training

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Army National Guard Pvt. Mark R. Howe recently graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus.

Howe earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Lori Howe of Farmingdale, Maine.

Hughes graduates from combat training

LAWTON, Okla. — Army Pvt. Jonathan W. Hughes recently graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton.

Hughes is the son of Mary Barbierri of Stratford, Conn., and William Hughes of Vassalboro, Maine. He is a 2006 graduate of Buhnell High School in Stratford.

Wood to attend military academy

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Brenden Wood of Vassalboro will attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Wood is a senior at Erskine Academy in South China, Maine. He is the son of Darrin and Marilyn Wood.

Slade to attend marine academy

KING’S POINT, N.Y. — Andrew Slade of Gardiner, Maine, has been accepted and will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in King’s Point.

Slade is a senior at Gardiner High School and is the son of Janet and Dan Slade.

Slade was nominated by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree.

Frost graduates from military training

SAN ANTONIO — Air Force Airman Alec D. Frost recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Frost is the son of Anita Adams of Sidney, Maine. He is a 2011 graduate of Messalonskee High School, Oakland, Maine.
