WARREN — Police say a 56-year-old Warren man has been charged after animal welfare officials removed two dogs, 14 chickens and six ducks from his property.

Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison says Foster Sullivan was charged with animal cruelty and issued a summons to appear in Rockland District Court on May 21.

Acting on a tip, a deputy went to the property and discovered that the animals had inadequate food and water and were suffering from severe neglect. The water in the pen for the dogs was green and unfit for drinking.

The sheriff tells the Bangor Daily News that one of the dogs was so severely neglected that it may have to be put down.
