PORTLAND — The Monmouth Academy Decathlon Team finished as the state runner up and champion in the small school division in the State Academic Decathlon Championship held on March 3 at Deering High School.

Alternate team members were Jordyn Mann; Emily Barnett; Tammy Cushman; Sabrina Beck; Sarah Record; Natalie Young; Danielle Bumann; Margaret Cummings; Tim Gates; Amy Nacca; Kerstin Schkrioba, who received the silver medal in music; Cameron Copeland, bronze medal in math; Crystal Blair, silver medal in economics and gold medal in art; and Brian Nugent, bronze medals in essay and economics.

Competition team members were Mackenzie Kelley; Kelsey Goentzel, who received a bronze medal in interview; Angela Bechard, silver medal in speech; Kristine Kahl, bronze medal in essay; Justin Knaus-Tucker, bronze medals in economics and music; Hayden Koller, bronze medal in economics and gold medal in science; Julia Destafano, silver medal in interview and gold medal in speech; Marinna Smith, bronze medals in language/literature and economics and silver medals in music and art; Matt Bryant, bronze medal in music, silver medals in language/literature and math and gold medal in interview, and second highest honors division scorer, second highest individual scorer and first highest team scorer.

The team is coached by Cathy Foyt and Scott Foyt.
