MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Claire Donegan and Lindsey McKenna each scored a hat trick as Colby College rallied from an early deficit for a 12-9 victory at Wesleyan University in women’s lacrosse action.

Wesleyan held leads of 3-1 and 4-3 before Colby (9-1 overall, 5-1 in NESCAC play) — ranked seventh nationally in the latest IWLCA Division III poll — scored five of the next six goals for an 8-5 halftime cushion.

Claire Dickson made nine saves for Colby. Maggie Drowica had five stops for Wesleyan (4-6, 1-4).

Colby-Sawyer 10, Thomas 6: Molly Prudden had a game-high four goals and two assists to lead the Chargers to the North Atlantic Conference win in Waterville.

Adrienne Bender had three saves for Colby-Sawyer (6-5, 2-0 NAC). Jennifer Day scored two goals for Thomas (3-4, 0-2). Teshia Cates made nine saves for the Terriers.

Castleton State 19, UMF 6: Angelica Mazzola topped the 100 career-goal mark with three goals in NAC East Division action in Farmington. Kate Auer led Castleton (4-5, 2-0) with five goals while Emma Morrison scored four times for UMF (2-4, 0-2).

Men’s lacrosse

Thomas 17, Green Mountain College 4: Erik Tiner II tied a school record with seven goals to lead the Terriers to the North Atlantic Conference win in Waterville.

Derek Racine scored a pair of goals for Thomas (2-7, 1-2 NAC). Jesse Morkeski had 10 saves for the win. Isaac Brown picked up five ground balls, caused three turnovers, and dished out one assist.

Luke Carey made nine saves for Green Mountain (0-7, 0-3).

Colby 11, Wesleyan 5: The Mules scored five goals in the first quarter and went on to defeat No. 15 Wesleyan at Bill Alfond Field in Waterville.

Ian Deveau, who had two goals and three assists, scored 49 seconds into the game for Colby (4-3, 2-3 NESCAC). Greg McKillop also had two goals and three assists for Colby.

Peter Reiley made 12 saves for the win, including six in the fourth quarter.

Wesleyan dropped to 7-2, 4-2 in league play.

Castleton 20, UMF 2: The Spartans scored seven goals in the second quarter en route to the NAC win in Farmington. Alex Gren led the way for Castleton (5-6, 4-0) with five goals and an assist. Brandon Melvilel scored both gaols for the Beavers (2-6, 1-3).

Baseball

Colby 13-7, Brandeis 11-1: The Mules rallied for six runs in the seventh inning of the first game and completed the doubleheader sweep in the second in Waltham, Mass. Ryan Arndt capped the rally in the first game with a two-run single, Devlin McConnell led the Mules with three hits, including a home run, and five RBIs.

Cony graduate Luke Dunklee had four hits and two stolen bases to lead Colby in Game 2 while teammate Taro Gold added three hits. Dakota Rabbitt picked up the pitching win with relief from Abhi Chandel. Colby is 9-9 while Brandeis falls to 5-24.

Castleton State 4-7, UMF 0-2: Dakota Aker threw a no-hitter in game one of a North Eastern Atlantic Conference doubleheader, and the Spartans went on to the sweep in Castleton, Vt.

Aker struck out eight and faced the minimum of 21 batters over seven innings. Only two runners reached base, one on a walk and the other dropped strike.

Brandon Gallagher took the loss for UMF (3-13, 2-6 NEAC East), walking two and striking out one while allowing two earned runs in five innings.

In Game 2, Tim Smith of Farmington earned the win for the Spartans (15-8, 10-0), allowing four hits and one earned run in give innings, walking four and striking out three.

Thomas 5-10 , Lyndon State 0-0: The Terriers blanked the Hornets in a NEAC doubleheader. Danny Burke went six innings for the win in the first game while Eric Sucy allowed one hit in six innings in the second game. The Terriers scored three runs inthe first inning of Game 1 on Joshua Gray’s double and Tom Cameron’s two-run single. In Game 2, Jeff Richardson went 3 for 4 while Cody Vigue doubled twice and singled. Thomas is 14-9 overall and 9-1 in NEAC Eastern Division play. Lyndon falls to 2-19, 1-13.

Maine 18-17, UMBC 1-11: The Black Bears banged out 39 hits in winning both games in Baltimore, Md., to complete a four-game America East Conference sweep against the Retrievers. Justin Leisenheimer collected three hits and drove in seven runs in the first game while while teammate Tyler Patzalak added four hits. Fran Whitten had four hits, including a homer, for Maine (16-14, 4-0) in Game 2. UMBC fell to 7-20, 0-4.

Softball

UMF 10-9, Johnson State 0-0: Augusta’s Amy Jones hit a home run in each game as the Beavers routed the Badgers in Farmington.

In game one, Jones hit a three-run homer as part of a nine run third inning. Kaitlyn Bartlett his a two-run triple for UMF (6-8, 4-4 NAC).

In game two, the Beavers scored three times in each of the first three innings. Shannon Mitchell doubled, homered and drove in three runs for UMF.

Boston University 2-6, Maine 1-1: Maine tied Game 1 in the bottom of the seventh on a home run by Jean Stevens but lost in 12 innings to the Terriers. BU completed the America East sweep in Game 2 as Whitney Tuthill pitched a three-hitter. Boston University is 22-12 overall and 6-2 in conference play while Maine falls to 7-24 and 0-5.

Thomas 3-4, New England 7-0: Kelsey Crowe pitched a complete game, striking out five and allowing just four hits, to help Thomas earn the victory in the second game for a split of the NEC doubleheader.

Alyssa Eugley and Sara Moynihan each had RBIs for the Terriers.

McKayla Gastia had a two-run single for Thomas in Game 1.

Bates 5-12, Colby 4-1: Leah Maciejewski homered and had two hits in the opener and Alayna Garbarino drove in three runs in the nightcap to lead Bates to a sweep of a NESCAC doubleheader in Waterville.

Fairfield native Lindsay Peterson had two hits to lead Colby (4-13) in the opener.

Meaghan Lewia had a pair of hits in each game for the Mules.
