FAYETTE — Residents face a revote on a proposed loan that would pay to install a wood boiler to heat Fayette Central School.
The School Committee will meet at 6 p.m. today at the school to consider two other energy-related items on that warrant as well.
Town Manager Mark Robinson said concerns were raised following last year’s approval, so the wood boiler item is coming up again at a special town meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. April 30 at the school.
Residents will be asked again whether they want to take out a $225,000 loan, with no interest, to install a wood energy heating system for the school, which has 72 children in pre-kindergarten through grade 5.
The loan application deadline is June 30, according to school Superintendent Gary Rosenthal.
Other items to be included on the warrant seek voters’ authorization to transfer up to $9,000 from an educational reserve fund for energy-efficient lighting recently installed at the school through an Efficiency Maine program, and up to $10,000 from the same reserve fund for a water treatment system.
If the new wood boiler is approved, then the $10,000 would be part of that money and not require separate funding, according to a draft copy of the warrant.
At tonight’s meeting, school committee members are to vote on those warrant articles.
Also on the agenda is a question of whether to have a school credit card to pay for school items up front rather than waiting for reimbursement.
However, Rosenthal said Wednesday he might remove that agenda item because it appears the guarantor would have to be either the principal or superintendent, who then would have to put personal information on an application.
The School Committee will also review financial records related to the school’s food program, which is run by Maranacook Food Services.
Rosenthal said the food service program costs the school department about $15,000 once all subsidies and reimbursements and payments are in.
Fayette Central School offers both breakfast and lunch programs.
“It’s a good program with a salad bar on site and good participation,” Rosenthal said.
