FAIRFIELD — Kennebec Valley Community College has won a $100,000 federal grant to help small rural businesses and agricultural producers reduce energy consumption and use renewable energy technologies.

The college is one of 10 recipients of the grant authorized by the 2008 Farm Bill, said Jonathan Humphrey, marketing specialist at the college.

The money will enable the college, in conjunction with Farm Energy Partners, to provide renewable energy development expertise to about 140 agricultural producers and businesses across Maine during the next two years.
