AUGUSTA — A Waterville man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of domestic-violence assault, forestalling a trial that was to be held today and Thursday in Kennebec County Superior Court.

Seth W. Reynolds Jr., 27, of Waterville, was sentenced to five years in prison, with one year suspended, and four years of probation.

Reynolds also pleaded guilty to four counts of violating conditions of release for contacting the woman who was the victim of the domestic assault.

The assault occurred Nov. 1, 2011, in Waterville, and the bail violations occurred Jan. 1, Feb. 1, March 1 and April 1 of this year, according to court records.

In exchange for the pleas, charges of gross sexual assault, obstructing report of a crime and domestic-violence terrorizing were dismissed.

At the time of the assault, Reynolds was on probation for a previous domestic-violence assault conviction.
