OAKLAND — Reid Nutter pitched five innings, allowing one run, while striking out four and walking four as the Messalonskee baseball team beat Brewer 9-1 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A opener for both teams Wednesday.
Travis St. Pierre drove in three runs for Messalonskee, while Sam Dexter had a double, a single and an RBI. Zach Mathieu added two singles and an RBI, while Devin Warren had two singles.
Bangor 11, Mt. Blue 0, 5 innings: Curtis Worcester pitched a one-hitter to lead the visiting Rams to the KVAC A win in Farmington.
Wyatt Frost led Bangor’s (1-0) offense with two doubles and three RBIs, while Christian Corneil added a double, a single and two RBIs. Parker Sanderson chipped in with two singles.
Bradley Jackson had a single for Mt. Blue’s (0-1) only hit.
Edward Little 3, Erskine 1: The Eddies scored all their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn the KVAC a win in Auburn.
Josh Delong was hit by a pitch and stole second base. Nate Blais then hit an RBI double and Sean Ford followed with an RBI single to make it 2-1. Corey Henderson then finished the scoring with an RBI single.
Luc Farrago pitched a complete game, allowing three hits while striking out seven and walking two for Edward Little (1-0).
Shyler Scates had an RBI single for Erskine (0-1). Scates also pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits whle striking out seven and not issuing a walk.
Camden Hills 10, Mt. View 1: Adam Carlsen earned the win and had two doubles to lead the Windjammers to the KVAC B win in Thorndike.
Connor Hart added two singles and scored twice for Camden Hills (1-0).
Kyle Turner doubled for the Mustangs (0-1) while Chris Montminy, Aaron Elkins and Ricky Moulton each singled. Adam Higgins took the loss.
Hampden 8, Lawrence 1: Dylan Corliss threw a three-hitter, with five strikeouts and one walk, to lead the Broncos to the win in the KVAC A opener in Fairfield.
Cooper Antone had three hits for Hampden (1-0), including a double. Matt Palmer had two hits, including a triple, for the Broncos. Fred Knight also had two hits.
Alex Leathers drove in the lone Lawrence (0-1) run with a safety squeeze bunt, scoring Jason Bushaw.
