POULTNEY, Vt. — The University of Maine at Farmington scored 14 unanswered goals in the second half to take a 19-8 win over Green Mountain College in women’s lacrosse action Sunday.

Maranacook graduate Alyssa Neptune scored a team-high five goals for UMF (5-5, 3-3 North Atlantic Conference). Miranda Levesque had four goals and an assist for the Beavers, and Emma Morrison had three goals and an assist.

Hannah Goodenow stopped eight shots for UMF. Green Mountain finishes the season at 2-10, 0-5 in conference play.

New England College 18, Thomas 9: Amanda Naimie netted six goals on her way to becoming the Pilgrims all-time leading goal scorer with 177, leading NEC to the win in Henniker, N.H.

Gardiner graduate Jenn Day had a hat trick for Thomas (5-7, 2-4 NAC) in the loss. Teshia Cates, a Skowhegan grad, made 12 saves for the Terriers.

Softball

Maine 1, Stony Brook 1, 8 innings: Rain forced Maine and Stony Brook to stop play in the eighth inning of their America East Confernce game and the game goes in the books as a tie.

Jennifer Eberhardt homered for Maine in the first inning. Lauren Kamachi’s RBI double in the second inning tied the score for Stony Brook.

Ashley Kelley pitched well for Maine, going seven innings while scattering eight hits and giving up just one run with one strikeout.

Bates 13-10, Thomas 4-1: The Bobcats scored seven runs in the first inning of Game 2 to complete the sweep in Waterville.

In Game 1, Bates scored seven runs in the top of the second inning. Kristen Finn earned both wins for Bates.

Messalonskee graduate Alyssa Eugley tripled in Game 1 for Thomas.

Baseball

Binghamton 6-2, Maine 0-1: Bill Bereszniewic scored on Dave Ciocchi’s single in the bottom of the eighth inning of Game 2, lifting the Bearcats to the doubleheader sweep of the Black Bears in Ithaca, N.Y.

Justin Leisenheimer scored on a second inning balk to give Maine (21-16, 7-2 America East) a 1-0 lead in the second game.

In Game 1, Mike Augliera pitched the complete game for the Bearcats (15-16, 6-2) and allowed just four hits.

UMF 9-1, New England College 6-11: Ethan Jean’s RBI single in the fifth inning gave UMF the lead for good, and the Beavers went on to split the North East Athletic Conference doubleheader in Henniker, N.H.

Jean, a Mt. View graduate, went 3 for 4 in Game 1, driving in three runs and scoring another. Dale Winchenbach picked up the win for the Beavers (8-26, 7-16 NEAC).

Lucas Burgess had three hits for NEC (21-17, 8-16) in game two.

On Saturday: Winslow’s Christina Massey won the high jump for the University of Southern Maine at the Aloha Relays at Bowdoin, with a jump of 4 feet, 11 3/4 inches. Massey was runner-up in the long jump (16-11 1/4). Augusta’s Bethany Dumas had three second place finishes for USM, the 400 hurdles (1:07.77), pole vault (10-11 3/4), and the javelin (114-9). Dumas was fourth in the 100 hurdles (:15.75).
