WATERVILLE — Sara Pavento pitched a complete game, allowing three runs, one earned, as the Thomas College softball team earned a 6-3 win over Maine Maritime Academy in the North Atlantic Conference quarterfinals Wednesday.

No. 4 Thomas advances to play No. 1 Husson at 10 a.m. Friday in Bangor in the semifinals.
Samantha Moore was 3 for 4 and scored two runs for Thomas. The Terriers scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on RBIs by Alei Collier, Kelsey Crowe, Lauren Hachey and Ali Kriegel.

Autumn Jones had three hits for MMA.

Maine 5, St. Joseph’s 0: The Black Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on their way to a non-conference win over the Monks in Orono.

EmJ Fogel led Maine (12-26-1) with a single, a run scored and two RBIs. St. Joseph’s falls to 30-7.

Colby 4-2, Southern Maine 3-1:
Freshman Megan Michie struck out 14 and allowed just four hits to earn the win in the second game of a doubleheader sweep for the Mules over the Huskies in Gorham.

Michie allowed one earned run on a solo home run by Katie Davis to earn the win in the second game for Colby (10-19).

In the first game, Brianne Wheeler hit an RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning to give the Mules the win.

Men’s lacrosse

Maine Maritime Academy 15, UM-Farmington 5: Alex Hermes scored four goals and grabbed 11 ground balls as the Mariners cruised to NAC win over the Beavers in Farmington.

Andrew DiSalvo added three goals and three assists for MMA (5-8, 5-3 NAC) which outshot UMF 55-19.

Brandon Melville and Matt Roy each had two goals and an assists for UMF (2-10, 1-7 NAC). Ben Altmaier added a goal.

Colby 5, Bates 3: Five different players scored as the Mules beat the Bobcats in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game in Waterville.

The Mules are now 9-4, 6-4 in the conference and will play No. 4 Connecticut College in the conference playoffs at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Greg McKillop, Jonathan McIvor, Chip Grossman, Scott Margolis and Ian Boldt all scored for Colby.

Women’s lacrosse

Cony 10, Bates 8: The Mules erased a three-goal, first-half deficit to earn a win over the Bobcats in the regular-season finale for both teams, in Lewiston.

Lindsey McKenna scored three goals for Colby (13-1, 9-1). Tess Petesch added two goals and an assist.

Baseball

UMass 11, Maine 5: Michael Fransoso went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, but the Black Bears lost in Amherst, Mass.

UMass (15-14) scored five times in the bottom of the fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead.

Maine falls to 21-17.
