Liam Skehan, 6 of Gardiner, paints a window at Lisa’s Legit Burritos on Saturday morning in downtown Gardiner. In addition to the window painting at several downtown businesses, there was a scavenger hunt in which children could find, count and report the number of Easter eggs in storefront displays.

Husband saving miles for somebody else

Dear Annie: My husband often must go out of state on business for months at a time. In order for us to be together, he buys me a ticket to join him whenever he accumulates enough frequent flyer miles. Right now, he’s in California. He recently missed my birthday, saying he didn’t have enough mileage to fly me there.

Autism a growing challenge for schools

Autism is on the rise in the United States. A report published last week by the Centers for Disease Control estimated one out of every 88 children was identified as having a form of autism. The report, using 2008 data, showed an increase of more than 20 percent from two years earlier.
