FARMINGTON — Daniel C. Doornbos recently joined Franklin Memorial Hospital as a consulting physician in pulmonology.

Doornbos specializes in outpatient pulmonary medicine and critical care.

He also sees patients at MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Campus in Waterville, where he works in the Pulmonary Clinic.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Kansas Medical School in Kansas City and Wichita, Kan., then completed a residency in internal medicine at University of Vermont Medical Center Hospital of Vermont in Burlington.

The Sheridan Corp., with an office in Fairfield, has been designated a top builder of metal buildings, according to announcement from the company.

Sheridan, a general contractor, was named a Northern Region Volume Builder of the Year by Butler Manufacturing, a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., the world leader metal buildings.

The award, in one of six regions nationally, was for superior sales and marketing of Butler products.

Among the recent Sheridan projects using the building components are O’Connor Chevy and GMC in Augusta.

The company also has built the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter and Delta Ambulance, both in Waterville.

Sheridan president Brad Nelson, senior vice president Mitch Sammons and vice president of construction Dan Wildes received the award at Butler’s national sales meeting in San Diego.

HealthQuest names

McAvoy as new staffer

FARMINGTON — HealthQuest Chiropractic recently announced that Samantha McAvoy has joined the practice.

She is a licensed massage therapist and certified Reiki practitioner. McAvoy also is an active member of the Maine chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association.

McAvoy earned her massage therapy degree from Kennebec Valley Community College and holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Maine at Farmington. She specializes in deep-tissue, trigger-point therapy; myofascial release; lymphatic massage; and Reiki.
