SOUTH CHINA — Erskine scored eight runs in the second inning, all after two were out, en route to an 8-6 win against Oxford Hills in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A baseball action Wednesday.

The Eagles had no one on in the second when Josh Bailey and Keith Cloutier each singled and Sean Cabaniss drew a walk to load the bases. John Suga followed with a two-run double. After an error, Shyler Scates doubled in a pair of runs and Tom Grady doubled home Scates. Jory Humphrey capped the innig with a long two-run homer to right field.

Grady went the distance for the pitching win, allowing seven hits while striking out seven and walking four. Scates had a single and double for the Eagles.

Erskine is 6-3, Oxford Hills is 6-2.

Skowhegan 7, Lawrence 1, 8 innings: The Indians scored six runs in the top of the eighth inning — all with two outs — to pull out the KVAC A victory in Fairfield.

Kaleb Brown and John Swett each had a pair of hits for Skowhegan (4-4) to help Taylor Bacon earn the victory.

Bacon went all eight innings. He struck out three, allowed six hits and walked just one.

Alex Leathers paced Lawrence (0-8) with three singles.

Medomak Valley 8, Mt. View 7: The Panthers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Mustangs in a KVAC B game in Thorndike.

Tyler McCormick had a single, a double and scored two runs, while Aaron Elkins had two singles and Adam Higgins a double and three RBIs for Mt. View (3-6).

Medomak Valley improves to 4-3-1.

Bangor 6, Messalonskee 2: Greg Duff pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits as the Rams beat the Eagles in a KVAC A game in Oakland.

Sam Dexter had two singles and a double for Messalonskee (5-3).

Bryan Rouleau had a triple for Bangor (8-0).

Mt. Abram 1, Carrabec 0, 5 innings: Arthur Ryan went 2 for 2 and scored the game’s lone run on a passed ball in the first inning of the MVC game.

Josh Beedy earned the victory, striking out nine and allowing one hit for Mt. Abram (2-5).

Carrabec dropped to 0-5.

Leavitt 8, MCI 2: Tim Dow pitched a complete game to lead the Hornets to the Class B victory in Pittsfield.

Dow allowed three hits and struck out eight for Leavitt (4-4).

MCI dropped to 0-8.

Gardiner 7, Nokomis 6: The Tigers bult a 7-0 lead then held on as the Warriors scored six runs in the fith inning in KVAC B action in Newport.

Freshman Josh McElvey (3-0) picked up the pitching win but needed relief help in the fifth when the Warriors scored six times on two errors, four walks and three hits. Dennis Meehan led the Tigers (6-2) with a single and a double while Jake Palmer singled twice and scored two runs and Ian Lane had an RBI triple. Chanlder Foss singled twice for Nokomis (3-5).

Dirigo 9, Madison 4: Tyler Frost went 2 for 3 and scored two runs and Spencer Trenoweth pitched 5 1/3 effective innings to lead Dirigo to the MVC win in Madison.

Tenoweth struck out two and allowed just two runs for the Cougars (8-1).

Garrett Emery and Travis Emerson each went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs (4-4).

Boys lacrosse

Gardiner 14, Camden Hills 0: Jeff McAuslin scored four goals to lead the Tigers to the Class B win. Keegan Smith added two goals and three assists while Seth Wing and Austin Moore each scored a pair of goals.

Justin Lovely, Dalton Sargent, Josh Caldwell and Tyler Jamison scored a goal apiece for the winners. Will Clapp scored twice for the Windjammers.

Cody Hickey made eight saves in goal for Gardiner (5-0-0) while Aiger Gordon made 16 saves for Camden Hills (3-4-0).

Maranacook/Winthrop 15, Mt. Blue 2: Toby Smith had three goals and two assists as the Hawks beat the Cougars in Augusta.

Zack Glazier added two goals and two assists, while Luke Evans and Alex Tooth both had two goals for Maranacook/Winthrop (5-1). Zach Bessett earned the win with seven saves.

Sam Taylor and Matt Smith each had a goal for Mt. Blue (0-5). John Andrews stopped 13 shots.
