AUGUSTA — Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St., will offer a number activities in celebration of International Migratory Bird Day on Saturday.
Events include:
* Bird walks led by the Augusta Bird Club, 7:30-10:30 a.m.
* Bird banding with Dr. Herb Wilson from Colby College, 9-10:30 a.m.
* Children’s bird walk with Michael Smith, 9-10 a.m.
* Children’s activities, 10-11 a.m. Children will construct a bird house to take home in addition to arts and crafts projects. There is no cost.
* Birds of Prey with Chewonki live bird presentation, 11 a.m.-noon.
* Chicken barbecue lunch, noon-1 p.m. Reservations are required. Children’s meals will also be available. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
* There will be a radio telemetry demonstration and treasure hunt with Plum Creek biologist Henning Stabins from 1 to 2 p.m.
