BUCKFIELD — The Richmond softball team had 17 hits on its way to a convincing 14-1 win over Buckfield in an East/West Conference game Tuesday.

Leandra Martin allowed six hits, struck out eight and walked two as the Bobcats ran their record to 9-0. Danica Hurley, Bri Snedeker and Lindsey Warner each had three hits for Richmond. Martin and Lindsy Hoopingarner both had two hits.

Danielle Patrie and Abby Bragg had two singles each for Buckfield (4-5).

Baseball

Maranacook 3, Medomak Valley 0: Zach Elwell pitched his second consecutive complete game shutout, striking out four batters to lead the Black Bears to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win over the Panthers in Waldoboro.

Cam Brochu and Jake Murphy each doubled for Maranacook (7-5). Cam Guild also had two hits for the Black Bears.

Buckfield 12, Richmond 2: The unbeaten Bucks collected 12 hits en route to the East/West Conference win.

Oscar Bennett led Buckfield (9-0) with two singles and a double while Austin Dooley and Julian Williams each had a pair of hits. Ben Carver singled twice for Richmond (1-8).

Girls lacrosse

Cony 10. Mt. Ararat 9: In Augusta, Mia Diplock scored the game-winning goal with 6 minutes, 28 seconds left to play.

The Rams led 8-4 at one point but the Eagles came back to tie the game at 9. Diplock, Bayleigh Logan and Chelsea Begin scored three goals apiece for Cony (7-1) while Haley Hanks scored one.

Rowley Jones led Mt. Ararat (5-3) with three goals while Hayley Michaud and Sierra Berry scored two each.

Both Cony goalie Katrina Duncan and Mt. Ararat’s Bailey Sullivan made seven saves.

Messalonskee 8, Gardiner 7: Ally Day scored six goals, including one with a minute and a half left to make it 8-7, but the Eagles held on for the win. Katelyn Hamm added a goal for the Tigers (1-7) while Paige Pilsbury and Brooke Davis each had two assists. Goalie Maddy Cutler made nine saves.

Sydney Gagne led the Eagles (5-3) with three goals while Katie Bernatchez scored two and Mara Balboni, Sara Grenier and Haley Pelletier had one apiece., Goalie Elizabeth Skinner made four saves.
