VASSALBORO—Police are looking for a man they say injured an Oak Grove Road woman during a break-in on her property this morning.

Maine State Police Trooper Diane Perkins-Vance said the 38-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries after being pushed to the ground. The trooper declined to reveal the woman’s name.

The suspect remains on the lam after several officers, some with dogs, searched the ground for the unidentified man. An airplane was used in the search as well.

“That was unsuccessful,” Perkins-Vance said. “It remains under investigation.”

The incident occurred around 11 a.m., as the woman checked the meter outside her home on Oak Grove Road. The woman noticed a door open on an abandoned mobile home on the corner of the property, Perkins-Vance said. When the woman went to check the trailer, she was met by a man near the door.

The man pushed the woman over in a bid to escape, Perkins-Vance said.

“Nothing was stolen,” she said.

The suspect was described only as a male wearing dark clothes.

Perkins-Vance said today’s incident occurred near the home of James Gidney, who in the early-morning hours of Wednesday confronted a burglar who broke in as Gidney and his family slept.

Gidney met the burglar outside the home and reportedly wrestled with him until the thief relinquished control of the television.

The burglar, described as black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 210 pounds, left in a newer model Subaru station wagon.

Wednesday’s incident remains under investigation, but Perkins-Vance said it appears unrelated to Monday’s alleged assault.

Perkins-Vance asked anyone with information on either incident to call State Police at 624-7076.
