VASSALBORO — Police are looking for a man they say injured an Oak Grove Road woman during a break-in on her property Monday.

Maine State Police Trooper Diane Perkins-Vance said the 38-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being pushed to the ground. Perkins-Vance would not reveal the woman’s name.

The suspect remained at large Monday afternoon after several officers, some with tracking dogs, searched the ground for the unidentified man. An airplane also assisted in the search.

“That was unsuccessful,” Perkins-Vance said. “It remains under investigation.”

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. as the woman checked the meter outside her home on Oak Grove Road. She noticed a door open in an abandoned mobile home on the corner of the property, Perkins-Vance said. When the woman went to check the mobile home she was met by a man near the door.

The man pushed the woman over in a bid to escape, Perkins-Vance said. Nothing was stolen, she said.

The suspect was described only as a man wearing dark clothes.

Perkins-Vance said Monday’s incident occurred near the home of James Gidney, who in the early-morning hours last Wednesday confronted a burglar who broke in as he and his family slept. Gidney chased the burglar outside the home and reportedly wrestled with him until the thief relinquished control of the television.

The burglar, described as black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 210 pounds, left in a newer model Subaru station wagon, according to police.

Wednesday’s burglary remains under investigation, but Perkins-Vance said it appears unrelated to Monday’s reported assault.

Perkins-Vance asked anyone with information on either incident to call Maine State Police at 624-7076.
