AUGUSTA — Nicole Rugan set the Cony High School single-season home run record with her sixth to help the Rams cruise to a 12-0 victory over Brunswick in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Monday.

Rugan moved past Devon Gaslin, who hit five home runs in 2004.

“It was a towering shot,” said Cony coach Rocky Gaslin on Rugan’s home run, which came with a runner on in the fourth inning.

It was one of four home runs the Rams hit.

Freshman Arika Brochu hit two home runs and finished with five RBIs.

Winning pitcher Sonja Morse also homered and drove in two runs. Olivia Deeves had a pair of singles and two RBIs for Cony (14-0).
