SKOWHEGAN — The Kneading Conference, a two-day gathering of home and professional bakers, millers, grain farmers, food entrepreneurs and writers, maltsters, wheat breeders and wood-fired oven builders, is set for Thursday, July 26, and Friday, July 27, at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds. More than 30 experts will gather from around the U. S. and Canada to lead workshops and panel discussions about making breads, pizzas and pastries in home and professional kitchens, building wood-fired earth or brick ovens, starting a micro-bakery, growing grains in the backyard and more.

Registration cost is $300 and includes all meals.

The conference will be followed by the Artisan Bread Fair, Saturday, July 28. The free festival celebrates local grains, artisan breads and Maine foods. There will be live music and demonstrations.
