WINSLOW — Police arrested a man without incident after a short high-speed chase through a residential area.
Dan Matthew Danforth, 41, of 189 Tuttle Rd., Canaan, allegedly drove his Pontiac Aztek through a stoplight Wednesday evening on Bay Street, Chief Jeffrey Fenlason said.
When an officer turned on his lights to stop the driver, Danforth allegedly accelerated and led the officer through a series of 25 mph zones, including Halifax Street, Monument Street, Clinton Avenue and Hallowell Street. Fenlason said he wasn’t sure how fast Danforth was driving but said children were present at many spots along the route.
Danforth eventually pulled over on Hallowell Street and was arrested on charges of eluding an officer, driving to endanger and operating with a suspended license — all class D misdemeanors.
