WHITEFIELD (AP) — Officials say a 20-year-old man was flown by helicopter to a burn treatment center after a campfire flared up and burned his head and arms.

Lynn Talacko, Whitefield’s deputy chief for emergency medical services, said the accident happened about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in a backyard in Whitefield.

Talacko told MaineToday Media that the man, whose identity was not released, suffered first-degree burns.
