OAKLAND — Travis St. Pierre scored the winning run from third base on a dropped third strike with Reid Nutter at the plate in the ninth inning to give Messalonskee a 7-6 win over Oxford Hills in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A baseball Wednesday.

St. Pierre had walked to reach base in the ninth inning.

Sam Dexter hit a two-run single in the fourth inning for Messalonskee (11-5). He finished with two hits.

Nick Attaliades had a double and a single for the Vikings (10-6).

Valley 6-8, Vinalhaven 5-1, 8 innings: Matt Hunnewell got an RBI single in the eigth inning to score Caleb Wade from third base to give the Cavaliers a win in Game 1 of an East-West Conference doubleheader against the Vikings. Dylan Belanger knocked in three runs for Valley.

Wade pitched all eight innings of the first contest, striking out nine batters.

The Cavaliers (8-6) also won the second game, led by the pitching of Cody Laweryson, who had seven strikeouts and one walk.

Nokomis 12, Mt. View 0, 5 innings: In Newport, Justin Amoroso pitched a two-hitter and the Warriors took advantage of eight errors en route to the KVAC Class B win. Chandler Foss led Nokomis with a double, single, two runs scored and an RBI. Nokomis is 9-7 while Mt. View finishes at 4-12.

Erskine 4, Brewer 0: Shyler Scates pitched a complete game and added an RBI double to lead the Eagles to the KVAC A win in South China.

Tom Grady had drove in a run to go along with a single and a double for Erskine (10-6). Josh Bailey and Ryan Pulver each had RBI singles for the Eagles.

Brewer dropped to 7-9.

Madison 15, Boothbay 4: K.P. Carpenter went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs and Cody Soucier scored three runs to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Madison.

Garrett Emery earned the victory, striking out four and allowing three hits in six innings. Jacob Johnson and Rhett McKenney also drove in runs for Madison (6-10).

Boothbay finished 0-14.

Brunswick 7, Mt. Blue 3: Chris Bruno had a double and a single to lead the Dragons to the KVAC A win in Farmington. Garrett Erb also had a pair of hits for Brunswick (3-13). Brady Larson earned the victory, allowing three hits in six innings.

Jordan Whitney, Matt Crowley and Bradley Jackson each had hits for the Cougars (6-10).

Spruce Mountain 11, Carrabec 1, 5 innings: Billy Calden homered and singled to lead the Phoenix to the MVC win in Jay. Jake Bessey, Brandon Hodges and Kyle Souther added two hits each for Spruce Mountain (11-5). Carrabec finishes at 1-13.

Mt. Ararat 2, Lawrence 1: Torrey Charnock pitched a two-hitter as the Eagles won in Fairfield.

Charnock is 4-3 this season, and has every win for Mt. Ararat (4-12). The Eagles scored twice in the top of the first inning on a fielder’s choice and an error. Joey Van Note singled twice for Mt. Ararat.

Lawrence (1-15) got its run in the fifth when Jordan Perkins brought home Nick Champney with a suicide squeeze. Ben Frazee and Isiah Fleming each singled for the Bulldogs.

Boys lacrosse

Gardiner 21, Mt. Blue 1: Alex Nadeau, Keegan Smith, Walter Bailey, Seth Wing, Justin Lovely and Nick Clement scored two goals apiece to lead the Tigers to the Class B win.

Chase Begin, Josh Caldwell, Tyler Jamison, Jeff McAuslin, Dalton Sargent, Josh Moore, Cody Hickey, Mike Caliandro and Justin Pottle added single goals for Gardiner (11-1) while Jacob Williams scored for Mt. Blue (0-12).
