WINSLOW — The Fort Halifax Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently held its monthly meeting and annual Good Citizen Awards ceremony at Winslow Congregational Church. Barbara Healy, Regent, conducted the DAR ritual preceding the awards.

Ailish Foley, of Montville, is a senior at Mt. View High School and plans to attend the University of Maine, Orono, majoring in biology. She moved to Maine two years ago with her family from Washington state. While in Washington, she was involved in the Washington 4-H program and helped younger members in clubs.

At Mt. View she was involved in a youth program called PeaceJam, the National Honor Society, tutoring fellow classmates, soccer and track. Foley is the daughter of Kathy and Neil Foley.

Christine Parrilli, of Winslow, attends Winslow High School and was a four-year lettered athlete in field hockey, indoor and outdoor track. She was the class president her freshmen year, class historian her junior and senior years and was involved in the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Spanish club, mathematics team and Renaissance clubs. She worked four years at the Winslow Parks and Recreation and was involved with the Evening Sandwich program in Waterville and Adult Education Life Skills Class for mentally challenged adults.

Parrilli also volunteered in the emergency room at MaineGeneral Medical Center. She plans to attend the University of Southern Maine to pursue a nursing degree and hopes to work in a clinic in a Third World country.

Parrilli is the daughter of Peggy and Thomas Parrilli.

Mathew Rumsey, of Winslow, received The Jenny Paine Howard History medal. He belongs to the National Honor Society and ranks sixth out of 118 students.

He takes karate lessons, earned his black belt and taught karate for the past six years. In the summer, he does computer work for the Winslow school system and also works part time for the Maine Sheriff’s Association in liquor compliance inspections. Rumsey is the son of Charles and Cynthia Rumsey.

All three award winners were presented with DAR pins and certificates. Charlie Hartman provided musical entertainment and refreshments were served.
