Twin sisters Briana Chu and Alexa Chu, 2008 graduates of Winthrop High School, have graduated and received awards from their respective universities.

Briana Chu, a May graduate of the University of New England in Biddeford, received the Outstanding Education Department Student and the Jacques Downs Award for an outstanding senior during a recent awards ceremony. Graduating with a 4.0 grade point average, she is also a member and president of the UNE chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society and a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology. She is in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is currently employed as a long-term substitute third grade teacher at the elementary school where she just recently completed her student teaching.

Alexa Chu graduated in May from Clark University in Worcester, Mass., with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She will complete a fifth-year program at Clark to receive a master’s degree in teaching. She is a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology and is also a member of Fiat Lux. She has been involved in university clubs and has been an All Kinds of Girls Mentor. She was nominated for several awards at the university’s senior brunch and honors convocation.
