WINTHROP — Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash Friday on U.S. Route 202.

Winthrop Police Officer Paul Ferland, who withheld the names of those involved in the crash until the investigation is complete, said none of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening.

The crash occurred less than 24 hours after a three-car pileup on U.S. 202 that injured eight people.

Ferland said Friday’s crash occurred around 3 p.m. near the Horse Shoe Road intersection, when one of the vehicles turned from the breakdown lane into the path of a vehicle heading west.

Ferland said the two people taken to the hospital were riding in the same vehicle. The west lane of U.S. 202 was closed for about 45 minutes, Ferland said.

Maine State Police and Winthrop Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the crash.
