GARDINER — Kristal Smith pitched a two-hit shutout and Brittany Rollins hit a mammoth home run to lead the No. 8 Gardiner softball team past No. 9 Winslow 2-0 in an Eastern B preliminary game Tuesday afternoon.

Smith struck out eight and allowed just six baserunners, including just two in the final three innings.

“We definitely came ready to play,” she said.

Kelsey Moody added an RBI single for Gardiner (10-7), which will play at No. 1 Oceanside (15-1) in a quarterfinal game Thursday.

Jordyn Pomerleau and Gabby Languet had the lone hits for Winslow, which finished 9-8.
