BANGOR — Electronic music artist Bassnectar and veteran alternative metal band Deftones are among the musical acts announced for the 4th Annual KahBang Festival, to be held Aug. 9 -12 on the Bangor waterfront.

The musical lineup for the festival – which includes art and film as well – was announced late Wednesday night. Other acts announced include Wale, Penguin Prison, Reptar, and Astronautiulus.
More than 50 bands will perform at the festival, including a wide range of hip-hop, indie rock, pop and alternative acts. Several are acts from Maine with Maine ties, such as The Mallet Brothers Band and Lady Lamb The Beekeeper.

Tickets will be available 10 a.m. Friday at the festival’s website, www.kahbang.com, and range from $35 for a one-day pass to $135 for a VIP camping pass.

While none of the announced acts are household names, the KahBang organizers stressed in their announcement that they are “strongly dedicated to the discovery of new music, and will be presenting many up-and-coming acts from Maine and around the country.”

Additional musical acts, as well as the schedule for the KahBang Festival’s art and film portions will be released in the coming weeks, organizers said.
