AUGUSTA —Molly Russell’s two-run homer highlighted Cony’s five-run sixth inning as the Rams downed Oxford Hills 8-1 in an Eastern Maine Class A semifinal softball game Saturday.
Russell’s homer was the 22nd of the season for the Rams who are 18-0. Sonja Morse went the distance for the win, allowing three hits, walking four and striking out 10. She also drove in two runs and scored another. The Rams had eight hits in all against Oxford Hills’ Crystal West.
The Vikings broke the shutout in the sixth inning when Bri Martin walked and scored on Abby Bernier’s double. Top-seeded Cony plays the winner of the Brewer-Bangor game Tuesday in Augusta while Oxford Hills finishes at 12-6.
