The area around Shirley, Blanchard and Moxie is about the only place left in Central Maine where everyday Mainers can roam, hunt and fish without gates and fees.

The landowners there let us roam there as long as we respect their land.

This highway will cut the state in half. Ninety-nine percent of Mainers can’t jump in a float plane and fly over the new highway to a getaway for the weekend.

If this is such a good thing for everyday Mainers then why are bills and loopholes being created behind closed doors. Roxanne Quimby is buying up land to protect Maine from Mainers then gates and closes it off.

To some people the roads we have go nowhere, but they get us where we need to go.

I doubt if Doug Thomas is going to throw on two cords of firewood and jump on the new highway to deliver it. He probably will stay on a road to nowhere.

If they build this east-west highway, it will break the heart of Maine and Mainers. Instead of calling it the road for Canadians or Cianbro Road, they should call it Heartbreak Highway.
