FAIRFIELD — Town Manager Josh Reny is looking for volunteers from the community to update the town’s comprehensive plan and assist with this summer’s Fairfield Days festival.

Starting in September, Reny said a committee of 12 to 15 citizens will meet through 2013 to work on the comprehensive plan, which was last updated more than 15 years ago.

Demographics, housing, the local economy, development patterns and land use, land and water resources, public services, facilities and recreation are focus areas, the town manager said.

Reny said volunteers are also sought to lead activities or assist a group organizing the Fairfield Days festival Aug. 10-11.

A chicken barbecue for senior citizens, a community supper, an antique car show, tours of Fairfield History House, concerts in the park, a 5k walk/run and children’s activities have been planned so far, Reny said.

Reny asks that people interested in volunteering for either or both groups contact him at jreny@fairfieldme.com or 453-7911.
