RANDOLPH—Police continue to investigate Tuesday’s robbery at a Water Street grocery store.
Maine State Police Trooper Adam McNaughton said in a prepared statement that the robbery at Goggin’s IGA, which includes a pharmacy, at 268 Water St. occurred around 5 p.m. A man handed a store employee a note demanding pills and said he had a gun, McNaughton said. No weapon was shown.
McNaughton did not say whether the robber was given any drugs.
Kennebec County Sheriff Corp. G.J. Neagle and his canine, Dracco, were called to track the robber, who was reportedly last seen running up nearby Windsor Street. The track was unsuccessful, McNaughton said.
The robber is described as a white man in his 20’s. Radio reports at the time of the robbery said he was wearing a white T-shirt, a baseball cap and blue jeans.
Goggin’s pharmacy has been a target in other robberies. The most recent occurred in February of 2009 when a man walked up to the pharmacy’s drive-though window and demanded prescription OxyContin.
