BRIDGTON — A Bridgton man has been released on $100 bail after allegedly assaulting a reporter for WGME Channel 13 who was investigating reports of a racist sign the man had erected at his home at Fosterville Road and Route 107.
The reporter was interviewing David Houston, 59, on Thursday about a sign that allegedly uses an ethnic slur to describe the president, accuses him of crimes against children and urges people to join the Bridgton Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist organization. The station’s news report includes footage that appears to show Houston grabbing the reporter’s microphone then grabbing the reporter, Steve Roldan, by the throat.

When the station called police, Houston drove off but was arrested by Bridgton police on Route 114. Houston arrived at the Cumberland County Jail at 5 p.m. on Thursday, charged with assault, and was bailed out for $100 in about an hour.
Houston has an Aug. 21 court date.
Houston has no prior arrests that led to jail time in the county jail, officials said.
